Marijke Wijnroks is the Netherlands’ special Ambassador for HIV/AIDS and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights as well as Deputy Director for Social Development. She has worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1998, her previous positions being Senior Adviser on Health and HIV/AIDS and Ambassador for HIV/AIDS.

In this capacity, she represented the Netherlands to the Global Fund to Fight Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

Ms. Wijnroks is a physician and has been involved for many years in global health and development.

Before joining the Ministry, she worked for the Pan American Health Organization in El Salvador (1993-1998), Helen Keller International in Bangladesh (1991-1993) and Médecins Sans Frontières in Southern Sudan and Uganda (1987-1991).
